Liposuction can be done by a variety of techniques. Almost all current techniques involve some use of wetting solutions whether you use a superwet or tumescent technique just varies on how much of that solution you put in, but that solution expands the fat cells, makes them more amenable to removal and reduction and also constricts the blood vessels so you do not get a lot of blood loss and bleeding. I like to do power-assisted liposuction and tumescent liposuction. I find those give me the best results. I am also very well trained and actually was among the first back in 1997 doing ultrasonic-assisted liposuction. Personally, that takes away some of the feel of the tissues and the fat in my hands, so I only reserve that for select situations where I feel like it can really enhance the results. I think that if you look at results of different surgeons and different techniques what you find is good surgeons get good results in liposuction regardless of the technique and may be lesser surgeons get lesser results, so I think it is much more surgeon dependent than technique dependent and again it comes down to having an aesthetic eye and technical competence.
