The Interface program really is an added value to my practice and my life. It allows me and the field of plastic surgery allows us as a specialty to intervene for the far less fortunate in third world countries in ways that other specialties cannot necessarily do. You cannot open up a cardiac transplant in a third world country, spend the weekend there, do a lot of good, and get out. As plastic surgeons, we have that opportunity, we have that skill. Plastic surgery as much as it is advanced technologically, it is relatively low-tech, high-touch field, and it allows us the opportunity to go in, setup an operating facility, help a tremendous number of people in a short period of time and believe me as surgeons we get as much out of it as the patients do.
